About the Role

Austin Fraser is a leading recruitment agency looking for a skilled Account Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the accounts manager with the day-to-day running of the accounts department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase Ledger Management:
    • Set up new suppliers and maintain accurate records
    • Raise purchase orders and ensure timely payments
    • Maintain the purchase ledger, including matching, batching, coding & inputting of purchase invoices
    • Ensure all purchase paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently
    • Resolve any purchase queries or discrepancies
  • Sales Ledger Administration:
    • Set up new customers and maintain their records
    • Raise sales invoices as per sales team requirements
    • Input and allocate customer receipts to correct invoices
    • Reconcile the sales ledger on a regular basis
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Monitor cash flow by checking bank accounts daily/weekly
    • Perform monthly cashbook reconciliations for sterling and currency accounts
  • Administrative Support:
    • Provide reception support, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries
    • Update sales day book and maintain company spreadsheets
    • Maintain and update company sales trackers
    • Raise delivery notes and order stationery
    • Filing and organizing documents
    • Book travel arrangements as needed
    • Assist with VAT returns preparation

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team. Experience with Sage accounting software is advantageous but not essential.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £20,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including annual leave, pension scheme, and opportunities for professional development.
