We are seeking a skilled Highways Supervisor to join our team at our Portsmouth depot, PO6 1TA. The successful candidate will oversee all reactive maintenance works within Portsmouth, ensuring the carriageway and footway network, drainage systems, bridge structures, and road markings are maintained to the highest standards.

The Highways Supervisor will supervise various work streams within the reactive and proactive programs, ensuring projects are completed within identified safety and time parameters. Key responsibilities include maintaining good relationships with clients, ensuring all work is carried out to Company Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards, and communicating regularly with staff and operatives on these matters.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a good relationship with clients and ensuring all work is carried out to Company Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Carrying out Safety Audits as laid down by line management.
  • Providing leadership and direction to several gangs across various work activities, such as small areas of footway and carriageway surfacing, paving works, drainage, signage, gully cleansing, and others.
  • Ensuring operatives' Job Packs are maintained and up to date.
  • Co-operating with the Group Safety Department in the compilation and update of Safe Working Procedures for the processes involved.
  • Having a good understanding of COSHH regulations, particularly as they relate to the Recycling Process, and ensuring the required information is relayed to the persons handling the materials concerned.

Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrating suitable relevant experience in the management of highway maintenance.
  • Having a good working knowledge of health and safety policies, with good IT skills and the ability to keep good work records.
  • Having a valid clean driving licence and a thorough working knowledge of site safety rules.

Package Description

  • A salary between £34,000 and £36,000 (dependent on experience) PLUS Company Car/Car allowance.
