The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Medical Oncologist to join our team as a Consultant. Main Responsibilities- Provide a comprehensive oncology service, working collaboratively with consultant colleagues to develop and manage site-specialized cancer services.
- Participate in the out-of-hours service and provide acute oncology care.
- Supervise and manage junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Undertake teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, contributing to postgraduate and continuing education both locally and nationally.
- Participate in clinical audit, continuing medical education, and contribute to the annual appraisal process, ensuring ongoing professional development and improvement.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams and commissioners to deliver clinical and quality targets, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- FRCR (Clinical Oncology) or equivalent qualification for Medical Oncology.
- MRCP or equivalent.
- Full Registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register in Medical Oncology via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), or European Community Rights.
- Expertise in site-specialized field where specified.
- Previous experience in the management of one or more of the following sites: Urology, Colorectal, Breast, Acute Oncology.
- Ability to take full responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Evidence of achievement of competencies in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
