About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Oncologist to join our dynamic team at the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive oncology service to patients, working closely with consultant colleagues and other healthcare professionals to develop and manage site-specialised cancer services.

You will be expected to participate in the out-of-hours service, providing acute oncology care and collaborating with surgeons, physicians, and staff in other specialties. Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising and managing junior medical staff, undertaking teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, and contributing to postgraduate and continuing education.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Oncologist with the following qualifications and experience:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • FRCR (Clinical Oncology) or equivalent qualification for Medical Oncology
  • Higher research degree in a cancer-related subject
  • Evidence of postgraduate study in the specialty with an appropriate postgraduate qualification
  • Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
  • Previous experience in the management of one or more of the following sites: Upper GI, Urology, Colorectal, Acute Oncology
  • Ability to take full responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Evidence of achievement of competencies in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
