We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bank Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at The Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth. As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Occupational Therapy services in our acute hospital setting and community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To support the development of the Occupational Therapy service, ensuring best practice, efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • To have overall accountability for the planning and management of your complex caseload, organising it effectively and efficiently with regards to clinical priorities and time.
  • To utilise clinical reasoning and analytical skills, with evidence-based knowledge, to assess and diagnose patients and implement appropriate management plans.
  • To use communication and behaviour change skills to facilitate long-term self-management with patients living with acute/or chronic conditions.
  • To continuously assess, evaluate, and modify treatment aims, objectives, and desired outcomes in collaboration with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • To make recommendations to colleagues and the multidisciplinary team, based on advanced theoretical and practical knowledge, regarding patient management.
  • To participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to discussions and decisions regarding patient care and discharge planning.

Requirements:

  • BSc (hons) degree in Occupational Therapy or diploma or equivalent.
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration for Occupational Therapy.
  • Evidence of additional specialist knowledge acquired through relevant post-graduate training.
  • Experience of working with patients in the inpatient and outpatient/community neurological setting.
  • Experience of working across different inpatient specialties, such as orthopaedic, medical, post-surgical.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
