The Opportunity
We are currently seeking two Senior/Principal Ecologists to join our London office on permanent contracts. As part of our Climate and Sustainability Services consulting team, you will work with a team of 12 experienced staff to deliver an effective and professional service to a wide range of clients.
As an Ecologist Leader, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including leading and conducting field surveys, designing and coordinating protected species surveys, and developing and managing GIS data and mapping outputs. You will also be responsible for reporting on Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct field surveys, including UKHab for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)
- Design and coordinate protected species surveys, such as great crested newt, bats, and badger
- Develop and manage GIS data and mapping outputs
- Report on Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), and BNG Assessments
- Assist the team in bidding for new work and business opportunities
Requirements
- BSc degree in a relevant subject, such as Ecology, Zoology, Geography, or Biology
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body, and seeking to work towards Chartership
- Previous experience in the consulting industry, with a broad range of ecological knowledge and experience
- Experience with ArcGIS software and digital tools and technologies to deliver efficiency and innovation
- Experience with protected species survey licenses
