About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Stroke Service team as a Rotational Band 6. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, providing specialist assessment, goal-directed intervention, and rehabilitation to patients in the community.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues to develop and implement high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services. You will have the opportunity to contribute to service development and change, and to help shape the future of our service.

The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, as well as sound clinical knowledge. You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including a 7-day shift pattern and extended working hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined caseload within the specialist area, using evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of intervention.
  • Organise caseload efficiently and effectively, prioritising clinical needs and using time effectively.
  • Ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
  • Work in partnership with clients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to identify relevant goals.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor/Team Leader.
  • Regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
  • Participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in the Band 6 Development Programme and other developmental activities.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
  • Professional Registration with HCPC

Desirable

  • Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention, and evaluation within relevant clinical area
  • Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process within specialist area of post
  • Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice in Occupational Therapy with designated client group
  • Experience of research and/or audit and implementing evidence-based practice
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
