About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Consultant in Public Health to lead on Health Protection, supporting both councils to protect residents from health hazards arising from infectious disease and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on health protection work, including infection prevention and control, national immunisation and screening programmes, inclusion health, air quality, climate change, and sustainability.
  • Provide public health lead on all health protection work, including reporting to the Director of Public Health.
  • Line management support to a team of staff, linking with the wider Public Health Team and other council directorates as needed.
Requirements
  • Strong skills and experience in leading on complex Public Health issues.
  • Positive attitude and ability to cope with multiple and changing demands.
  • Flexibility and autonomy to work effectively.
  • Politically astute and able to enable elected members to maximise their positive impact on health and wellbeing.
  • Influential and clear communicator, able to take people with you to effect change.
  • Embracing diversity and able to work and influence people from a variety of backgrounds.
