We are seeking a skilled Payroll and Pension Officer to join our team at the Transformation Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the accurate processing of payroll and pension data.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in payroll administration, with extensive knowledge of pay procedures and statutory legislation. They will also be proficient in using the ESR payroll system and have a good understanding of NHS Pension rules and regulations.

This role requires the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, ensuring accurate input of high volume and complex employee/payroll data into the Electronic Staff Record System. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication skills, being able to explain payroll, NHS Pension scheme and statutory information clearly to employees, handling and resolving complex and sensitive queries/issues courteously and confidentially.

We offer a competitive salary of £25,000-£35,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits. If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is looking for a new challenge, please submit your application.

Main Duties:

  • Input a range of pay-affecting data into the National ESR Payroll system
  • Perform various calculations, such as PAYE, National Insurance, Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), and Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
  • Ensure accurate input of contractual and variable data and the completion of all appropriate documentation
  • Explain payroll, NHS Pension scheme and statutory information clearly to employees

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Payroll Administration
  • Extensive knowledge of pay procedures and statutory legislation
  • Previous experience and ability to use ESR payroll system
  • Experience and knowledge of NHS Pension rules and regulations
