About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing specialist psychological services to individuals with complex mental health needs.

The successful candidate will be part of the Camden Core Team, working closely with GPs and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and support to service users. As a Senior Mental Health Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct clinical input, supervision, and guidance to colleagues, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of new initiatives and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychology services to individuals with complex mental health needs, including assessment, formulation, and intervention planning.
  • Work closely with GPs and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans, taking into account individual circumstances and preferences.
  • Supervise and mentor junior clinicians, ensuring they receive the support and guidance needed to provide high-quality care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives and programs aimed at improving mental health outcomes and reducing stigma.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues, service users, and their families, ensuring seamless delivery of care and support.
Requirements
  • Doctoral level training (or equivalent) in clinical/counselling psychology.
  • Extensive post-doctoral experience working with complex mental health presentations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with service users, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
