Job Title: Consultant in Emergency Medicine

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join the Emergency Unit at Glangwili General Hospital, a modern and purpose-built unit that provides a comprehensive emergency service to the local community.

About the Role

As a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients presenting with a wide range of emergency conditions. You will work closely with other consultant physicians and surgeons to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in Emergency Medicine
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to improve patient care
  • Contribute to the development of the Emergency Unit's strategic plan
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and research in Emergency Medicine
Requirements
  • FRCEM or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC registration and Licence to Practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT Or CESR due within 6 months of interview date
  • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • Experience in Emergency Medicine and leadership roles
Desirable
  • Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
  • Experience of NHS and wider experience, research and training in providing sub-specialty service
  • Evidence of above-average performance
  • Additional clinical qualification(s)

This is a permanent position, and the successful candidate will be required to work at Glangwili General Hospital, although other working locations may be necessary and will form part of your agreed job plan.

Interested candidates are invited and encouraged to do some locum shifts within the department as a trial before applying.
