Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Conservation Ecology Specialist to join our team at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic ecologist to play a key role in developing and implementing biodiversity plans across the Network Rail Eastern Region.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have experience in conservation ecology and a strong understanding of landscape-scale biodiversity improvements. They will be responsible for steering and implementing biodiversity plans, working with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborating with our team to deliver high-quality ecological information.

Responsibilities:

  • Biodiversity Inventory for the lineside estate, based on stakeholder and existing data
  • Biodiversity Action Plans with overarching objectives for Routes
  • Habitat Management Plans showing how the objectives will be put into practice
  • Pilot development of implementation for future stages
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement
  • Supporting integration of plans into day-to-day working practices and standards

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in conservation ecology, with a focus on landscape-scale biodiversity improvements
  • Strong understanding of ecological principles and concepts
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel to meetings and sites in the Network Rail Eastern Region
