About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Technician to join our team at East of England Ambulance Service. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all motor vehicle repairs, pre-planned maintenance repairs, and vehicle servicing are completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose faults in vehicles and decide on the extent of the work required, making informed decisions as to the repair or replacement of faulty units.
  • Responsible for the servicing, repair, and preventative maintenance of all vehicles maintained by East of England Ambulance Service.
  • Work in rotation with other Mechanics to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and repair services.
  • Participate in a rota for 24hr service and repair callouts, including travel to ambulance stations and undertaking minor mechanical, electrical, and body work repairs.
  • Carry out MOT inspections and repairs as required for MOT tests to EEAST and customer vehicles.
  • Responsible for the safe working practices undertaken when dealing with motor vehicle air-conditioning systems.
  • Utilise computerised diagnostic equipment to assist in the diagnosing of vehicle faults and fault-finding process.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including job cards, service sheets, and parts sheets, and ensure timely submission.
Requirements
  • IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of procedures for mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair to BTEC/HNC, or City and Guilds, plus relevant training or equivalent.
  • Driving Licence with C1/D1 categories, courses, significant experience of driving vehicles larger than a family saloon car.

About Us

The Fleet Department is responsible for the design, testing, and evaluation of operational vehicles, their procurement and issue to A&E Operations, the in-life compliance, service planning, and up-time management (operational life) of the vehicle, and the final decommissioning and disposal at the end of their life.

It is also responsible for all ordering of lease vehicles to support functions, including business lease cars.
