About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Oak Tree Ward. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work with patients to ensure their daily activities of life are supported and maintained.

Main Responsibilities

Safe administration of medication

Keeping patients safe through sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments and management

Completing holistic care plans with patients and their families

Referrals to external sources

Excellent communication with patients and their family members

Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by keeping your skills up-to-date and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures

Supervising other staff and students to ensure they are working to the standards patients deserve

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

  • Registered nurse
  • Numeracy skills required for the safe administration of medicines

Previous Experience

  • You do not need previous experience as a registered nurse
  • You need previous experience of working in the mental health services either as a band 5 nurse, a student nurse or healthcare assistant

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to communicate with the multidisciplinary team, present cases, take note of actions, update others in the team and use handover effectively
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records both electronic and handwritten which adhere to the CNWL policies
  • Able to talk to people about sensitive issues in a supportive manner but also challenge others assertively where necessary
  • Able to maintain electronic patient records Use Microsoft Word for letter and report writing
  • Work well with other members of the team including communicating effectively, being kind and considerate, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Mentor, teach and support others in the team
  • Supervise others in the team
  • Contribute to the culture of the team and play a role in making it inclusive, kind and hard working
