We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Cover Supervisor to work within one of our partner secondary schools. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education for students in the absence of their regular teacher.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising classes during teacher absences.
  • Ensuring students remain on task with the work set by their teachers.
  • Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a positive learning environment.
  • Providing support to students where necessary.
  • Reporting back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise work that has been set in accordance with the school policy.
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
  • Respond to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
  • Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures.
  • Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate teacher.
  • Report, as appropriate, using the school's agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within school.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage groups of students and maintain classroom discipline.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
