About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team at NFU Mutual. As a key member of our General Insurance Sales Force and Service Centre, you will play a crucial role in driving the identification and acquisition of new business, particularly in the mid-market commercial space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of new business pipelines and attend client visits as required.
  • Gain increased exposure and develop your experience and understanding of various risks, while underwriting your own personal caseload.
  • Provide clear direction on NFU Mutual's Underwriting strategy, Risk Appetite, and technical knowledge and skills to deliver objectives, KPIs, and first-class customer service.
  • Apply a 'whole account' underwriting philosophy, working in collaboration with cross-divisional teams and supporting the identification of new mid-market opportunities.

About You

We are looking for a self-starter with extensive new business Commercial Underwriting experience. You will be a well-organized individual with excellent prioritization skills, able to provide strong examples of pragmatic and logical thinking. You will also have:

  • Property & Liability Commercial underwriting experience within the mid-market space.
  • Experience of successfully building and managing relationships.
  • Confident communication skills with experience of leading and influencing discussions and decisions with integrity.
  • Development Underwriting experience or proven business development experience (desirable).
  • Dip CII or equivalent qualification (desirable).
