Job Title: Group Head of Technical

MacGregor Black is seeking an experienced technical leader to join our team as Group Head of Technical. This is a permanent role based in Scunthorpe.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our multi-site technical department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical management, with experience in developing technical teams, policies, and procedures within a multi-site manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical department with diligence, independent judgment, and a values-led approach.
  • Develop and implement effective technical strategies to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and deliver the Food Safety & Quality culture across the business.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring transparent and strategic alignment with customer expectations and requirements.
  • Optimise value across the technical estate, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective decision-making.
Requirements
  • MSc in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in a technical management role within the chilled food industry for 5+ years.
  • Knowledge of HACCP (Level 4 minimum), BRC, and other food safety management systems, including customer (retailer) standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
