Commercial Officer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Officer to join our team at Royal IHC, a leading supplier of maritime technology and expert craftsmanship. As a Commercial Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects, working closely with our project managers, suppliers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Product Budget Management: Track costs and expenditures throughout the project lifecycle, providing analysis and reports on any cost variances to the baseline project budget.
  2. Contract Administration: Prepare and administer supplier subcontracts, including assessing variations and claims, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and resolving disputes.
  3. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential financial risks associated with the project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  4. Change Management: Manage changes to the project scope, assessing their cost implications and negotiating with relevant parties to agree on fair adjustments.
  5. Final Account Settlement: Prepare and negotiate the final accounts with contractors and sub-contractors upon project completion.
  6. Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports and cost forecasts for stakeholders, including clients, supplier subcontracts, and project managers.
  7. Benchmarking: Compare project costs against industry standards and historical data to identify areas of improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in an appropriate discipline such as Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management.
  2. Relevant commercial experience of engineering design and build projects.
  3. Proficient report writing and data analysis skills backed up by strong MS Office knowledge.
  4. Problem solver, able to work independently, under pressure, with minimum supervision.
  5. Willingness to undertake national and international travel as part of the job role.
