Exciting Opportunity for a Neonatal Unit Sister

Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Unit Sister to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to infants requiring admission to the neonatal unit.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neonatal nursing, with experience in managing a ward team and leading the implementation of neonatal standards. They will also have a specialist interest in infant feeding and be able to lead and support the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) team on the neonatal unit.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Provide care to infants requiring admission to the neonatal unit, demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of neonatal policies, procedures, and working practices.
  2. Lead and manage a ward team, promoting professional post-registration development and leadership.
  3. Work collaboratively with other neonatal units and the Yorkshire and Humber Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (ODN).
  4. Support the BFI team on the neonatal unit, maintaining Baby Friendly accreditation.
Person Specification
  • RN Child or RN adult with NMC registration.
  • Qualified in Speciality (QIS) Course.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience post QIS.
  • Completion of Mentor/PEAP qualification.
  • Unicef BFI train the trainer.
  • Embedding neonatal standards.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Evidence of experience working within the neonatal setting.
  • Demonstrate professional post-registration development in order to effectively manage a ward team.
  • Sound knowledge of the UNICEF neonatal standards and their implementation within the neonatal unit.
