About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Manager to join our team at OCU Group, a leading utility engineering contractor in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing company that values employee development and career progression.

Job Description
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on health, safety, quality, and environmental aspects that impact the business, including completing monthly reports and conducting regular meetings with the SHEQ team and customers.
  • This role involves identifying potential legislative changes, reviewing audits and inspections, providing SHEQ information and advice, setting achievable standards, recognizing the need for training, liaising with clients, producing performance reports, and managing SHEQ initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure effective systems arrangements and supervision for providing a safe workplace and suitable welfare facilities.
  • Produce, review, and update project-specific execution plans and communicate their requirements to all project personnel.
  • Maintain, update, and amend safe systems of work to ensure they are safe and without risk to health.
  • Ensure all project personnel have necessary experience, training, and knowledge to carry out assigned duties.
  • Identify and recommend necessary training for project personnel, emphasizing new and young personnel involved in high-risk activities.
  • Ensure all project personnel attend induction training prior to commencing work and receive regular toolbox training.
  • Review completed activities, risk assessments, and make recommendations for improvements from lessons learned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and visitors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Level 6 equivalent (degree, diploma, or NVQ equivalent).
