About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a VAT Associate (3+ years experience) to join the existing indirect tax team of an international banking group with EMEA HQ in London.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of UK quarterly VAT returns and annual adjustments for internal review and final sign off by Head of Taxation.
  • Support the preparation of other EMEA VAT reporting as required (which may include UAE, Netherlands, Germany, France, and Spain VAT reporting).
  • Review of Debtor Invoices for VAT accuracy.
  • Maintenance of policies & procedure documentation for VAT reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Identification and implementation of ongoing systems and process improvements.
  • Provision of tax technical advice, particularly in respect of VAT.
  • Assistance in identifying and implementing new tax legislation.
  • Opportunity to broaden your role to include operational taxes (preparation of UK FATCA / CRS returns and assistance with EMEA reporting), and preparation of monthly Withholding Tax reports to Head Office.

About You:

  • You will need to have gained some initial experience working in indirect taxes and have completed - or have taken significant steps towards gaining - a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
  • In an ideal world you might have already some exposure to the VAT requirements of a Banking organisation, whether from the perspective of an accounting firm or whilst working in another in-house position.
  • You will need strong Excel skills.

Salary Information: The salary for this position is around £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
