We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a specialist school in the Yeovil area. This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will support pupils in meeting their personal, academic, and pastoral needs at each stage of their schooling.

About the Role

This SEN school caters for pupils aged 2-19 with various needs such as Autism (ASC), Learning Difficulties, and Complex Needs. The school offers an education that exposes pupils to a broad, balanced, differentiated, and relevant curriculum, presents them with challenges that foster creativity, and is based on the essential elements of the National Curriculum.

The school has an excellent adult-to-pupil ratio with class sizes of a maximum of 7 students. Previous special school experience is not necessary for this role, but you must have experience supporting children and adults with complex learning needs.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting teachers to deliver highly personalised inclusive lessons.
  • Developing a good understanding of the school's curriculum.
  • Working closely with other professionals and families.
  • Supporting with personal care.
  • Supporting the creation of a climate for success for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to learn and develop.
  • Approaching challenges with resilience and instinct.
Requirements
  • GCSE (C or above) Maths and English.
  • Ability to work flexibly throughout the school, meeting the needs of pupils in various contexts.
  • Passion for working with children in education.
  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, and in some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
