Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Regulation team as a Transmission Summer Placement. As a member of this team, you will contribute to understanding the opportunities and barriers to delivering projects, new services, and consumer outcomes by translating existing policies and regulations and identifying upcoming reforms.

You will work across a range of policy areas, including price controls, industry reform, and wider net zero policy, to support the team in the development and implementation of broader work packages, including the ASTI framework submissions and enduring regulatory price controls.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the energy sector and contribute to our ambitious net zero targets. You will have the chance to work collaboratively in various contexts, take ownership of your role, and drive action forward while also having opportunities for networking, presentations, and specialist sessions with our graduates.

To be considered for this role, you should be studying a degree in Economics, Law, Engineering, Sciences, or Politics, with some practical work or project experience in the energy sector. You should also be comfortable working to and setting individual targets, using your initiative to overcome challenges, and have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Studying a degree in Economics, Law, Engineering, Sciences, or Politics.
  • Some practical work or project experience in the energy sector.
  • Comfortable working to and setting individual targets, using your initiative to overcome challenges.
  • Genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
