About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cargo Underwriter to join our team at AIG. As a key member of our Marine portfolio, you will play a crucial role in writing large and complex global cargo risks with dual stamping capabilities.

As a Cargo Underwriter, you will be responsible for:

  • Attending broker meetings and client meetings to discuss portfolio management and underwriting of cargo risks.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external brokers to drive portfolio performance, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Partnering with the Cat modelling team to understand aggregate monitoring, key exposure zones, and DUA and facilitated business.
  • Managing an existing portfolio, including renewals, endorsements, and client meetings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Marine cargo underwriting experience, preferably in the Lloyd's or company market.
  • Confident knowledge of all subclasses of Cargo.
  • Proactive and able to work independently, as well as part of a close-knit team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgement calls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
