We are seeking a seasoned Corporate Counsel to support our rapidly expanding television series productions in India. As a trusted member of our team, you will handle all legal aspects of development, production, and marketing of original TV content for Amazon's AVOD service(s).

This role involves developing forms and policies, structuring and negotiating complex agreements, managing legal matters during development, production, and marketing, and analyzing contracts to provide thoughtful legal advice. You will work closely with local and global legal teams, outside counsel, and Amazon's digital video and studios legal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement legal strategies to support TV content development and production.
  2. Negotiate and draft complex agreements, including rights option and acquisition agreements, unscripted format agreements, and production services agreements.
  3. Manage all legal matters during development, production, and marketing, including evaluating rights issues, confirming chain of title, and handling clearance matters.
  4. Analyze and interpret contracts to provide thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues.

Requirements:

  1. LL.B. (undergraduate law degree) from a top-tier university in India.
  2. A minimum of 8 years of experience as a lawyer, with several years of experience with a studio, production company, or an entertainment and media law firm in television development, production, and marketing.
  3. High degree of independence, initiative, and decisiveness, with a desire to be challenged and think outside the box.
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.
  5. A team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization.
  6. Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
  7. Outstanding legal and business judgment, especially in ambiguous situations.
  8. Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. In-house experience in the media space with a reputed MNC.
  2. Knowledge/experience in policy issues.
