Electrical CAD Designer

We are seeking a skilled Electrical CAD Designer to join our design function at RSK Group in Glasgow. The overall purpose of the role is to provide CAD Design and Technical support within our organization for existing and future delivery of Electrical projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide technical input and checking of drawings and documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Prepare effective design outputs and contribute technical guidance to projects as required, utilizing 2D/3D CAD systems to design and visualize project deliverables.
  • Support both team and personal Continuous Professional Development by demonstrating an awareness and understanding of advances or emergent technologies within the discipline.
  • Introduce improvements that will maximize efficiencies or enhance existing procedures to ensure high-quality outputs are maintained.
  • Submit all design work to relevant British Standards and client specifications, adhering to applicable guidance and regulations such as WiMES, CDM 2015, DSEAR Regs, and Confined Space Regs as applicable.
  • Correctly use the company's timesheet system to capture and maintain accurate records of time spent on each project.
  • Attend and contribute effectively to client meetings and workshops, maintaining an understanding of project hours, programme, and costs to ensure project deliverables are achieved as efficiently as possible.
  • Provide support to other CAD Designers and work in conjunction with and under the direction of engineers.
  • The role will predominantly involve Electrical and Instrumentation drafting work using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, including the production of Single line diagrams, cable block diagrams, loop and termination diagrams, GA drawings, cable routing, P&IDs, panel layouts, planning drawings, existing and proposed site layouts.

To be considered for this position, you will have at least 2-3 years of previous experience within a CAD or design function, with previous experience ideally within an engineering or construction environment being beneficial. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of CAD and commercial awareness of their specialist area of engineering. Effective communication skills to liaise with team members, clients, contractors, and others involved in the design process are essential for the role.
