English Teacher Job Description

We are seeking an experienced English Teacher to join our team at Dibden Park School in Southampton. As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality education service to our students with social and emotional mental health and other complex needs.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, delivering, and teaching individual students or small groups, in accordance with our Curriculum framework and related policies.
  • Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress.
  • Contributing to and helping implement developments that relate to our School Development Plan.
  • Promoting the physical, educational, and moral development of our students, in line with our policies.
  • Coordinating the teaching, development, assessment, recording, and reporting of subjects and areas of learning across key stages.
  • Devising, implementing, and reviewing individual education plans, individual behaviour plans, and other relevant individual plans in conjunction with other staff.
  • Organising the classroom, its resources, student groupings, and displays to provide a stimulating learning situation.
  • Ensuring the safety of students, in line with risk assessments, while on and off site.
  • Working with and managing challenging behaviour, enabling students to develop from needing external control to developing self-control.
  • Playing a full part as a member of our multi-professional team, ensuring effective working relationships with colleagues.

We are part of Acorn Education, a specialist SEN provision that offers a holistic, wraparound care, residential, and education service to thousands of vulnerable pupils across the UK.
