About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Academic English to join our team at Dibden Park School in Southampton. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students and contributing to the school's mission to provide high-quality education and care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the English department, developing and implementing English curriculum, and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. You will work closely with the Head Teacher and other colleagues to achieve the school's goals and priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the English department and develop a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies to improve student outcomes in English.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives that promote student achievement and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures related to English education.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues to ensure high-quality teaching and learning in English.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress in English and make data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with parents and carers to keep them informed about their child's progress in English.
Requirements
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience in leading a department or team in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of English curriculum and pedagogy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
