This SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to work with students who have additional needs in Plymouth. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of children who require extra support.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly those with additional needs. They will also have a good understanding of conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and trauma-related behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques and a trauma-informed approach.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and providing emotional support to help students manage their challenges.
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor and adapt support for each child.
- Helping create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly those with additional needs (experience in schools, youth work, care settings, or similar roles is ideal).
- A good understanding of conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and trauma-related behaviours.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
- Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
Estimated Salary: £22,000 - £28,000 per annum based on a 37-hour week.
