About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and newly qualified School Nurse Specialist to join our team at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. As a key member of our school nursing team, you will play a vital role in delivering the Healthy Child Programme and promoting the health and well-being of children and young people in Croydon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Locality School Nurse Team leaders and Clinical Service Leads to deliver measurable outcomes to the school-aged population in Croydon.
  • Develop and implement public health initiatives to promote the health and well-being of children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential and access all areas of the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the on-going development of the school nursing service, maintaining current knowledge of local and national issues that impact on the school-age population.
Requirements
  • Hold a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) qualification in school nursing or Health Visiting.
  • Have a strong understanding of national and local strategies pertaining to school health, including the Children Act, Working Together, and London Child Protection Procedures.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and establish good one-on-one relationships with young people and colleagues.
  • Have experience of delivering health promotion programmes, supporting school staff and pupils to manage complex health needs, and analysing and interpreting health needs profiles.
