Opportunity for a Registered Nurse in School Nursing

Nutrix Medical is seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in school nursing to join our team on an ad hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Triage: Conduct thorough assessments of students' physical and emotional health, provide first aid, and refer students to medical professionals as necessary.
  • Health Education: Educate students, teachers, and parents on various health topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications to students under the supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Wound Care: Provide wound care and dressing changes for students with minor injuries or chronic conditions.
  • Monitoring Health Conditions: Monitor students with chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, or epilepsy, and work with teachers to develop individualized plans.
  • First Aid and Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
  • Infection Control: Ensure the school maintains a clean and safe environment by implementing infection control measures.
  • Communicating with Parents: Communicate with parents about their child's health concerns, medication administration, and any changes in their child's health status.
  • Developing Health Policies: Develop and implement health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaboration with Teachers and Staff: Work closely with teachers and staff to develop individualized plans for students with special needs and promote a healthy school environment.
  • Providing Referrals: Refer students to community resources for mental health services, counseling, or specialty care when necessary.
  • Maintaining Health Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student health information.
  • Developing Healthy Habits: Promote healthy habits among students, such as good hygiene practices, regular exercise, and healthy eating habits.
  • Conducting Screenings: Conduct vision, hearing, and other screenings to identify potential health concerns early on.

A valid UK NMC PIN and Band 6 experience are required for this role.
