As a Recreational Activities Facilitator, your role transcends mere event planning; it embodies a commitment to providing support and care to individuals in need.

In this full-time position, you will foster a lively environment focused on engaging activities. This will require both your creative and technical skills to design, execute, and oversee programs that promote social interaction and leisure pursuits.

Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate meaningful connections with service users, both on an individual basis and in group settings. By gaining insight into their interests, you will customize activities to boost their participation while ensuring their unique needs are prioritized in alignment with their care plans.

Collaborating with a range of professionals, you will work alongside community resources to motivate service users to engage in local events.

Key Responsibilities of a Recreational Activities Facilitator:

  • Organizing social and recreational programs within a safe environment for users who may not have access to public services.
  • Collecting feedback from users regarding their social and recreational interests.
  • Observing user behavior, capabilities, and reactions, and providing regular updates to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Documenting observations and progress in user clinical records under supervision.
  • Following service policies, guidelines, and procedures to maintain safety and security.
  • Conducting daily risk assessments for individuals and groups.
  • Upholding health, safety, and security standards for users, staff, and visitors.
  • Exhibiting strong coordination skills and effective resource management.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Fundamental group facilitation skills.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a mental health environment (preferred).
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive attitude and motivation.
  • Awareness of mental health issues and their implications.
  • A solution-oriented problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Understanding of the gender and cultural needs of users.
  • A valid UK driving license.

Work Environment:

The Dean Neurological Centre specializes in providing 24-hour nursing and therapeutic services for individuals with complex neurological conditions. The center is dedicated to enhancing each individual's capabilities and overall quality of life.
