About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Reserve Community Outreach Support Worker to join our team at Longhurst Group. As a key member of our Supported Housing team, you will play a vital role in providing a comprehensive range of support services to customers with profound and enduring Mental Health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maximising Independence: Work with customers to improve their quality of life, their ability to sustain their tenancies, and the achievement of independent living.
  • Housing Related Support: Provide support with accessing benefits entitlements, paying rent and household bills, securing appropriate accommodation, and accessing employment, volunteering, and training opportunities.
  • Personal Care and Social Inclusion: Assist with shopping, supervising medication, and prompting clients to do domestic chores. Provide social inclusion support to build confidence in accessing the community.
  • Record Keeping and Risk Assessment: Maintain accurate records of support provided, maintain risk assessment and support plans.
  • Collaboration with Partner Agencies: Work with partner agencies such as Peterborough City Council, NHS services, and Cambridgeshire County Council.
Requirements
  • Experience in Mental Health Support: Ideally, you will have worked in a similar role supporting individuals with enduring mental health needs. However, we are open to candidates wanting to start in their Care careers or interested in pursuing a new career within a Mental Health/Social Work environment.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Mental Health: Having some knowledge and understanding of Mental Health and the issues around it would be beneficial.
  • Communication and Listening Skills: You will need to demonstrate good communication and listening skills, with a strong ability to provide advice to help our customers.
  • Full Driver's Licence: It is an essential requirement to hold a full driver's licence as you will have access to a fleet of pool cars to carry out your role.
