We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at The Hospice of St Francis. As a Palliative Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional standards of individualized physical, psychological, and spiritual care to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, taking into consideration their holistic needs and the Hospice's guidelines, policies, and standards.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to maintain high-quality care within the Inpatient Unit, ensuring continuity of care through comprehensive recording and verbal handovers.
- Participate in identifying and developing guidelines and standards within the Inpatient Unit, and assist in auditing these standards.
- Establish caring relationships with patients, families, and friends, providing support and advice, and referring to other team members as necessary.
- Answer queries as part of the out-of-hours palliative care advice line for South West and North West Hertfordshire.
- Maintain and improve own professional competence by keeping up-to-date with research and developments in palliative care, attending in-service training sessions, and participating in education and training opportunities.
- Registered Nurse with a keen interest and willingness to learn about and practice palliative care nursing.
- Experience in palliative care (generalist) and ability to escalate issues where necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen and respond in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritizing and organizing work within delegated authority.
- Emotionally resilient, diplomatic, and people-focused, with a desire to learn through continuous development.
- IT skills, including email, word documents, computerized patient records, and report writing.
