Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Officer to join our esteemed Salaried Dental team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional clinical care to patients with a wide range of special needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver a full range of treatments for adults and children with special needs, ensuring access to dental care for those who have been unable to access treatment through the General Dental Service.
  • Provide urgent dental care for patients who have been unable to access treatment with a general dental practitioner.
  • Conduct dental screenings for school children and other groups, promoting oral health and well-being.
  • Participate in epidemiological surveys to identify trends and areas for improvement in oral health.
  • Perform treatments under General Anaesthetic in a hospital day unit or conscious sedation within the dental clinic.
  • Engage in Oral Health Promotion activities to educate patients and the community on the importance of oral health.
  • Provide domiciliary care to patients who require dental treatment in their own homes.
Requirements
  • Full GDC registration is essential.
  • Desirable to hold a dental performer number, but the organization can facilitate this if necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of dental care.
