Position Overview

We have established integrated pathways that align with NHS standards to deliver patient-focused endoscopy services in a streamlined manner. Each of our facilities is designed for optimal accessibility, situated in community-centric locations with convenient public transport links.
Key Responsibilities
The Gastrointestinal Specialist will operate independently as a JAG accredited Advanced Practitioner. The service will cater to a diverse range of patients referred from both open access GP and secondary care sources, including the following procedures:
- Upper GI: OGD with biopsy and Barrett's surveillance
- Lower GI: colonoscopy with biopsy, polyp removal (< 1 cm), polyp surveillance, colitis monitoring, and post-cancer resection follow-up
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy: similar to colonoscopy as clinically indicated
- Haemorrhoid banding

Job Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Independently manage endoscopy lists, including emergency cases, while collaborating with the broader CHEC Endoscopy team.
- Exhibit advanced clinical judgment, discretion, and decision-making capabilities.
- Autonomously diagnose and report on benign and malignant gastrointestinal conditions, discussing findings with patients.
- Develop appropriate patient management plans, including referrals to other facilities or discharge.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for nursing and related professionals.
- Ensure the safe delivery of services and the efficient operation of units, while fostering a capable team.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Valid GMC, NMC, or HCPC registration
- Extensive experience in the relevant field, with at least two years at a senior level
- Experience with endoscopy modernization programs, GRS, and JAG
- Understanding of JAG standards and requirements in an Endoscopy Service
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience
- Commitment to high-quality patient safety and care
- Independent Prescriber status
