Flight Software Team Lead

Holt Recruitment is partnering with a leading space sustainability company to find a talented Flight Software Team Lead to join their dynamic team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and verification of flight software for satellites, ensuring that it meets the required level of quality and is delivered on time and to budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate the work of the software team, creating detailed schedules for flight software development across key projects.
  • Ensure that flight software verification and validation is conducted to the required level of quality and is delivered on time and to budget.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in flight software verification and validation, providing technical guidance and support to the team.
  • Coordinate with other teams to identify software needs and solutions, ensuring that the flight software development process is aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Support knowledge transfer between global engineering teams and provide technical review inputs to projects across the organization.
  • Establish and develop the software development methodology and lifecycle for flight software, ensuring that it is aligned with industry standards and best practices.
  • Work with the Head of Cyber Security to ensure that security requirements are satisfied and that a secure development lifecycle is implemented.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant engineering/science discipline.
  • 5+ years of commercial experience in flight software development for satellites.
  • Experience with embedded systems programming (C/C++).
  • Extensive knowledge of software development methodologies and approaches.
  • Experience in implementing real-time systems and software solutions on spacecraft missions.
  • Experience on flight software development for space projects and with ESA.
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards for flight software.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development practices (desirable).
  • Basic Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, etc. (desirable).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, bash) (desirable).
