Engineering Operations Leader

Role Overview
As an Engineering Operations Leader, you will guide a team of 10 Manufacturing Engineers while providing support to 6 Toolroom Operatives. Your primary objective is to ensure the team excels in machining, plating, molding, and assembly processes, enhancing both quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Formulate and execute a departmental strategy aligned with overarching business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Manage and prioritize the workload across Toolroom, Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, and Estimating departments.
- Process Optimization: Refine existing production processes and ensure prompt responses to shop floor challenges.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partner with Design Engineering and Project Managers for timely and cost-effective product launches.
- Financial Oversight: Spearhead cost reduction initiatives and oversee the departmental budget.
- Training & Development: Identify training needs within the team, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, and track progress.
- Workplace Standards: Uphold 5S workplace organization standards.
- Data Reporting: Prepare data for monthly presentations to the company.
- Best Practices Implementation: Enforce TE Operating Advantage (TEOA), Centres of Excellence (COE), and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDPs).
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated leadership and management experience in an engineering or manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean Manufacturing principles (8D, 5S, Cell Design, Quick Change Over).
Hands-on experience with CNC and molding machinery, tool rooms, and MRP systems.
Proficient in ERP systems, Excel, and MS Project.
Expertise in quality assurance methodologies such as PFMEA and control plans.
Strong analytical and presentation skills.
Experience in continuous improvement initiatives and significant capital investment projects.
Ability to work independently and innovatively in a dynamic environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with SAP, Minitab, and Six Sigma certification.
Skills in tool and fixture design using SolidWorks or Creo.
Project management experience and knowledge of digital machine connectivity.
This position is vital for ensuring efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations, achieving production goals, and fostering continuous improvement.
