Position Overview:
Machine Shop Shift Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:


As a Machine Shop Shift Supervisor, you will oversee the workflow, production activities, and personnel during your designated shift.

Your primary duty will be to supervise operations, ensuring that all tasks are programmed, set up, and executed according to exact specifications, delivering high-quality components within deadlines.

You will embody and promote our core values and behaviors, nurturing a positive and efficient work atmosphere.

Direct Reports:
Team Members in the Machine Shop during your shift

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations and supervise staff.
Collaborate with fellow Shift Supervisors to develop and implement weekly/monthly plans that align with business objectives.
Track team performance against established plans and KPIs.

Quality Assurance & Performance Management:
Ensure all work adheres to drawing and quality standards.
Conduct quality investigations to identify root causes of defects using appropriate tools and methodologies.
Handle performance and disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy.

Team Development:
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and annual appraisals with team members.
Identify and address the developmental needs of team members through training and mentorship.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, training, and disciplinary matters.

Communication & Collaboration:
Participate in meetings, providing necessary feedback.
Coordinate with other departments and managers to resolve issues and ensure efficient product flow.
Facilitate cell reviews and manage communication boards, reporting to the shift supervisor.

Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all company procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.
Ensure Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) and 5S standards are upheld throughout the shop.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Lead and organize TEOA/KAISAN activities.
Collaborate with the Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer to swiftly address processing issues.

Additional Responsibilities:
Act in the absence of senior supervision.
Manage cells when their cell leader is unavailable.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in team leadership.
Excellent communication skills across all levels.
High standard of engineering skills and general education.
Familiarity with CNC operating and safety procedures.
Engineering qualification (preferred).
Methodical work approach with minimal supervision.
Proficient in computer applications; experience with Excel and SAP (advantageous).
