Position Title: Service Support

Reporting Line: Technical Service Manager

This role is ideally suited for individuals with field service experience who prefer an in-house position. The work will involve approximately 90% in-house responsibilities and 10% on-site training.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering qualifications (City & Guilds Level 1, 2, & 3, HNC/HND, or NVQ Level 2 or above)
  • Experience in electrical fault diagnosis (on-site or via phone)
  • Strong customer service communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Detail-oriented, precise, and self-assured with the ability to resolve issues
  • Basic computer skills (proficiency in Word and Excel)
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred

Desirable Qualifications / Skills:

  • Experience in field service (traveling for work within the UK or internationally)
  • Proficiency in additional foreign languages (preferred in the following order: Portuguese, German, French, Italian)
  • Familiarity with PCBs & PLCs (including program uploads and fault record analysis)
  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems (preferably Dynamics 365)
  • Valid manual driving license
  • Intermediate Excel skills

Training Opportunities:

Comprehensive training is provided for all employees. You will receive in-house training in production to understand our product range and observe the flow of materials from receipt to assembly (both electrical/electronic and mechanical), testing (system testing, analysis, and fault diagnosis), and dispatch.

You will accompany experienced Service Technicians on installations, commissioning, testing, servicing, and repair visits.

In-house MRP training will be provided by departmental staff, along with other necessary courses as identified.

Equipment & Attire:

All required tools and safety equipment will be supplied, including personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide customer support through various communication channels, addressing issues and concerns in a logical and composed manner.

Conduct advanced remote fault diagnosis using specialized remote monitoring tools.

Perform electrical fault diagnosis, interpreting electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit schematics with a logical approach.

Execute mechanical fault diagnosis, interpreting 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and understanding measurements and tolerances.

Utilize software knowledge to communicate effectively with HMI systems from a distance.

Manage spare parts administration, identifying required components, generating quotations, and converting quotes into orders.

Coordinate Service Technicians' visits, organizing travel arrangements, accommodations, and liaising with customers to confirm service schedules.

Prepare Service Technicians prior to scheduled tasks, coordinating with them on-site regarding faults, installations, and service visits.

Gather commissioning information and release codes, ensuring the database is updated accordingly.

Occasionally visit customer sites both domestically and internationally when required.

Utilize foreign language skills to communicate with relevant customers when applicable.

Compensation Package:

Salary: Basic annual salary ranging from £42,000 to £44,000.

Standard working hours: 08:45 – 17:15, Monday to Friday.

Pension plan available upon joining the company (5% contribution).

Life assurance provided after the completion of the probationary period (6 months).

Reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses.

Private healthcare and increased pension contributions (8%) after a further qualifying period (2-3 years).

33 days of holiday, inclusive of UK Bank holidays, with additional holiday accrual for long service.
