Our mission is to contribute to a cleaner, safer, and greener environment across the UK. To further our goals, we are currently seeking an Environmental Compliance Officer.
Location: Various areas.
Working Hours: Approximately 37.5 hours per week, with shifts scheduled according to site requirements. Typical pattern includes 5 days on and 2 days off, operating from 07:00 am to 19:00 pm, Monday through Sunday.
Compensation: £13.50 per hour.
Transport: Personal transportation is necessary.
Role Overview:
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the ongoing monitoring and enforcement of environmental regulations, anti-social behavior, and violations of pertinent legislation in collaboration with local authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct foot patrols in both on-street and off-street locations, inspecting public spaces, identifying violations, and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices using a handheld device or manual methods when required. Report any environmental or community safety issues to the appropriate departments.
- Maintain precise records of activities, Fixed Penalty Notices issued, and necessary evidence for legal proceedings.
- Attend court sessions to support legal actions as needed.
- Stay informed about relevant legislation, including but not limited to the Cleaner Neighbourhoods & Environment Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1990, PACE 1984, and RIPA 2000.
- Perform administrative tasks as necessary, ensuring adherence to audit protocols and security measures.
- Synchronize Fixed Penalty Notices and photographic evidence from handheld devices and/or digital cameras.
- Download and manage video evidence from Body-Worn Video Devices.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned that are suitable for the role.
Communication Skills:
Utilize appropriate methods to convey information clearly and concisely, ensuring comprehension.
Adaptability:
Demonstrate flexibility and effectiveness in various situations and weather conditions.
Training and Development:
We offer a comprehensive and practical training course designed for aspiring environmental officers. This program provides insights into the daily responsibilities of an environmental compliance officer, current legislation, and the communication skills necessary for the role. Participants engage through practical activities, video presentations, and observations while obtaining a recognized qualification in environmental awareness.
