We are collaborating with Music Therapy Works (MTW), an independent charitable organization located in the West Midlands, dedicated to providing extensive music therapy services to individuals, groups, and communities across various situations.
Music therapy is a clinically proven psychological intervention, administered by therapists who possess a Master's level education and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
MTW offers music therapy aimed at improving communication, self-expression, and overall wellbeing. Their services are delivered in diverse environments such as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, residential care homes, and hospices, assisting individuals whose lives have been impacted by injury, illness, or disability by addressing their psychological, emotional, cognitive, physical, communicative, and social requirements.
We are in search of a new Trustee for MTW who has Financial Expertise to join the existing board and assist the CEO in providing fresh perspectives and skills to establish and endorse the strategic direction of the charity.
As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to offer guidance and support to the Chief Executive in crafting and executing this new strategy, potentially enhancing the lives of countless individuals through music therapy.
ROLE OF A TRUSTEE:
- Trustees are responsible for making decisions that will significantly influence the lives of individuals and contribute positively to our community.
- They lead the charity and determine its operational framework, playing a crucial role in shaping and advancing the charity's mission.
- Trustees collaborate with the management team, leveraging their expertise to help the charity define and achieve its strategic objectives, without engaging in the daily operations of the organization.
- As directors of MTW, trustees fulfill roles in both the charity and the company limited by guarantee.
- Trustees volunteer their time and are not compensated with fees, although they may claim reasonable expenses.
MTW aims for its Board to reflect the diverse community it serves. We particularly encourage applications from individuals who represent MTW's beneficiaries. For instance: are you a person with a disability? Do you have mental health challenges? Are you a parent or educator of a young disabled individual, or a young person with mental health needs? Are you part of an adoptive family or do you work with children in care? Are you a caregiver for someone with dementia?
Whether you are an experienced trustee or seeking your first board-level position, we are eager to hear from you. Previous trustee experience is not a prerequisite, as training will be provided.

Expected commitment includes attending four meetings annually and participating in an annual away day.
