Lecturer in Operating Department Practice

We are seeking an inspirational individual with clinical experience to join our team as a Lecturer in Operating Department Practice. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and supporting students in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including interprofessional education.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver innovative, high-quality learning experiences that equip students with the skills, knowledge, and attributes required by employers.
- Contribute to curriculum development and delivery, research, and other forms of scholarly activity as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Take an active role in student learning, teaching, and assessment, including quality and administration duties associated with an excellent student experience.
- Be involved in the whole student pathway, including admissions, academic advising, clinical placement, and pastoral support.
- Good honours degree (UK or 1st Class), or equivalent professional qualification or experience in a relevant discipline.
- Qualification in operating department practice, or nursing with experience of the operating department or equivalent.
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered.
- Currently practicing with significant clinical experience in operating theatres.
- Well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to operating department practice.
- Is a qualified ILS/ALS instructor and/or Moving and Handling instructor.
- Evidence of a contribution to knowledge in your field, publications or creative work.
Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of pre-assessment, anaesthesia, surgical practice, and post-anaesthetic care. We have an excellent relationship with clinical partners and part of the role is to support learning in placement in conjunction with clinically based practitioners.
The team currently consists of eight (full-time and part-time) members of staff who are responsible for planning, delivery, and assessment of the operating department practice curriculum and post-registration development. The team also participates in the teaching, learning, and assessment of interprofessional education in the faculty and are developing provision for the international market.
The team is based within the Robert Winston Building, which provides excellent facilities and houses our operating theatre simulation and a variety of well-equipped clinical rooms.
