Lecturer in Operating Department Practice

We are seeking an inspirational individual with clinical experience to join our team as a Lecturer in Operating Department Practice. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and supporting students in the delivery of our operating department practice curriculum.
Main Responsibilities:- Design and deliver innovative, high-quality learning experiences that equip students with the skills, knowledge, and attributes required by employers.
- Contribute to the development of a sense of student community and act as a key contact for students.
- Assist with the operational delivery of courses/modules and address emerging issues proactively.
- Engage in critical reflection on practice as a basis for improving performance.
- Contribute to innovation in learning, teaching, assessment, and curriculum development.
- Good honours degree (UK or 1st Class) or equivalent professional qualification/experience in Operating Department Practice.
- Registration with a recognised regulatory body (e.g. HCPC or NMC).
- Significant clinical experience in operating theatres.
- Well-developed and current knowledge of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to Operating Department Practice.
- Teaching experience, training, or supervising/mentoring students in higher education or a clinical environment.
Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of pre-assessment, anaesthesia, surgical practice, and post-anaesthetic care. We have an excellent relationship with clinical partners and part of the role is to support learning in placement in conjunction with clinically based practitioners.
The team is based in the Department of Allied Health Professions and is part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University.
