Position Overview

Part-time Role: 25 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Volunteer Program Manager to join a prominent British charity. This role is integral to the Audience Engagement team, which is responsible for a variety of public initiatives, volunteer programs, visitor services, retail operations, educational outreach, and interpretative work. The position is designed to be hands-on and multifaceted.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Volunteer Manager in the recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers to ensure adequate support for the charity's operations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and project partners to recruit, onboard, and manage young individuals in paid internships and work experience roles.
  • Organize and participate in volunteer recruitment events, both within the charity and at external venues.
  • Act as a representative of the charity at community and volunteer events.
  • Ensure that volunteer and internship opportunities are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all.
  • Work with colleagues to create progression pathways for participants involved in the broader Activity Plan.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Audience Engagement and the Volunteer Manager in establishing a sustainable succession plan for volunteering and work experience.
  • Maintain and manage databases that support the volunteer program.
  • Monitor and manage budgets related to volunteering, work experience, and training initiatives.
  • Stay informed about best practices in volunteering within the heritage sector and share insights with peers and the wider community.
Qualifications

Experience in organizing and managing inclusive volunteering and work experience opportunities is essential. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in computer applications, particularly the Office suite, and possess strong organizational skills.
