Canterbury, Kent, United Kingdom Canterbury Cathedral Full time
About Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury Cathedral is the spiritual heart of the Church of England and a symbol of the Anglican Communion's global presence. Located in the historic city of Canterbury, Kent, it is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Principal Accountant will play a crucial role in the Cathedral's finance team, supporting the implementation of a new Finance Management System that will streamline financial processes, enhance data quality, and provide real-time financial insights. This will involve reviewing manual processes associated with legacy systems and driving change to improve efficiency.

During the project, the Principal Accountant will collaborate with the IT Manager to develop a formal data strategy, ensuring data reliability and quality. Additionally, they will assist the Director of Finance in delivering the finance department's wider functions, including annual accounts preparation, management reporting, job and project costing, forecasting, investment management, and maintaining strong internal controls.
