About the Team

The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of asset renewals and minor enhancements across multiple routes. Our projects encompass a wide range of areas, including:

  • Signalling
  • Telecommunications
  • Overhead Line and Distribution & Plant
  • Structures
  • Geotechnics & Buildings

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Telecoms Project Engineer, you will:

  1. Implement organizational systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, and commissioning activities.
  2. Oversee the competence of all project engineers within your area of expertise, providing guidance and direction as necessary.
  3. Apply engineering controls and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant Codes of Practice in all design and construction contracts.
  4. Utilize project assessment tools to determine the most suitable delivery model for each project.
  5. Conduct risk assessments and HAZOP analyses to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
  6. Advise on construction activities, testing, commissioning, and site supervision to ensure compliance with legislation.
  7. Evaluate contractor performance to ensure quality outputs and adherence to safety standards.
  8. Conduct reviews of design and construction activities, ensuring that safety and quality management systems are effective.
  9. Participate in accident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in telecommunications project delivery, design, or maintenance.
  • Technical qualifications at a minimum of HNC level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Membership in a recognized professional institution, working towards IEng or CEng status.
  • In-depth knowledge of transmission systems and integration with various technologies.
  • Experience with Radio systems and Station Information and Security systems.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders and team members.
  • Demonstrated capability to navigate complex issues proactively.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Client/Supply Chain/Alliancing environment.
  • Chartered status.
  • Knowledge of risk management techniques and engineering assurance.
  • Understanding of safety management and quality assurance principles.
