About the Role

Thornton Legal is seeking a dedicated and organized Paralegal to join their Real Estate team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure risk assessments are up-to-date and files are compliant with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Assist with monitoring team financials, including debt and funds held on account.
  • Deal with sale matters for freehold and leasehold properties, including drafting contract packs, making contact with relevant parties, and dealing with enquiries.
  • Deal with post-completion matters on leasehold properties, including serving notices to relevant parties and ensuring payment and consents are obtained.
  • Submit AP1s and respond to Land Registry requisitions within timescales, diarizing cancellation dates.
  • Review initial contract packs on purchase matters and ensure all documents are available for the solicitor responsible for the matter.
  • Submit SDLT & LTT returns within relevant timescales.
  • Submit MR01 forms at Companies House within relevant timescales.
  • Undertake OS1, OS2, and bankruptcy searches and diarize relevant dates.
  • Maintain and build relationships with clients and agents, including calls and updates to all parties.
  • Ensure compliance with AML and UK Financial Markets Law (UKFML).
  • Help create workflows to improve department efficiency.
Requirements
  • Organized and efficient individual.
  • Able to work on own initiative and effectively prioritize work.
  • Experience of document and account management systems (ideally iManage and Aderant).
  • Understanding of AML and CDD procedures.
  • Ability to update Excel spreadsheets for internal and external purposes.
  • Ability to assist with administrative matters such as processing financial transfers and managing the DocuSign process.
  • Experience of working in a law firm environment and/or qualifications relating to the legal profession.
