Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Location: Remote, with occasional on-site visits to clients near Southampton

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Field Service Engineer, you will spend two days a week on-site with a client, and the remainder of the week working as part of our Service Desk team in a 2nd line support capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support at the client site
  • Provide 2nd line support through the service desk
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through effective ticket management
  • Work collaboratively on customer sites, integrating seamlessly with the existing IT team
  • Utilise Remote Monitoring Tools for proactive maintenance and support
  • Respond efficiently to customer requests and enquiries, adhering to agreed timescales and escalation procedures
  • Create and update technical documentation, advising clients on IT updates and changes
  • Troubleshoot and maintain infrastructure, including laptops, workstations, servers, and networking equipment

Requirements:

  • Proven 2nd line experience in a Service Desk environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understand and adhere to agreed timescales, recognise the need for escalation, and demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience with Office 365 Cloud services (Email, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Expertise in Microsoft domain infrastructure (Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Experience with backup solutions and a solid understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Own a car for travel to datacentres and client locations

Desirable Skills:

  • Confidence in communicating with diverse audiences and third-party vendors
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of switches, firewalls, and routers
  • Ability to document third-party applications and support service providers
