We are seeking an experienced Associate Fire Engineer to join our Building Design Practice. This role will involve working as part of a national team of experts delivering fire engineering design solutions to clients across various sectors, including cities and development, commercial, energy, residential, and transportation.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from residential buildings to rail transportation and new energy facilities. They will be responsible for managing multiple engineering projects from inception to delivery, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and codes. Additionally, they will support junior team members, keep up-to-date with regulations and legislation, and contribute to the development of fire strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver fire engineering design solutions to clients across various sectors.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from inception to delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety standards and codes.
  • Support junior team members in their professional development.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulations and legislation.
  • Contribute to the development of fire strategies.
  • Assess fire-related risks in projects and work collaboratively to mitigate them.
  • Review and comment on the quality of fire safety-related installations.
  • Undertake tenders for new work.
  • Develop client relationships to identify potential work opportunities.
  • Prepare reports, participate in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required.
  • Support and develop junior team members.
  • Act as a technical reviewer on project submissions.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree, preferably in fire engineering or a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering.
  • Experience in fire engineering roles, including roles outside of consultancy.
  • Strong experience working with multiple fire standards, including BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, and EN45545.
  • Demonstrate a strong record of successfully delivering fire strategies.
  • Fire modeling experience is beneficial.
  • Working towards chartered fire engineer status.
  • A flexible approach to the working environment.
  • Willingness to travel is a positive advantage.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Customer-focused.
  • Ability to collate information and have a clear and structured approach to report writing.
